A Day in the Life: Personal Assistant

Welcome to 'A Day in the Life', our new blog series allowing you to become a 'fly on the wall' and learn more about the day-to-day life in different job roles and industries. To kick-start our new series, we'd like to introduce you to Wendy, our wonderful Personal Assistant here at Clearview Minds!

Responsible for a variety of different secretarial and administrative tasks, Wendy helps keep the Clearview Minds' ship afloat, with daily responsibilities including processing invoices and expenses, working through data protection, disclosures and providing general organisational support - basically, we'd be lost without her!

Having worked in both the voluntary and private sectors, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the organisation...

" I have worked within Employability Programmes for a number of years within a variety of roles, but always had some kind of administration input, so when the role within Clearview Minds came up for a PA, I saw this as a natural progression. "

Having worked with Clearview Minds for just over a year, no two days are the same for Wendy - and that's what she loves about her job as a Personal Assistant! Working on a number of different tasks provides Wendy with a diverse working day - from making flashcards and booking networking events, to drawing elephants and answering incoming calls... she's done it all! Partial to a bar of chocolate now and then, her favourite office snack is a banana, giving her some extra energy to get through a busy day! Wendy is a team player and her communication, time management and organisational skills make her the perfect fit for the role of a PA (as well as the fact that she loves a good cup of tea)!

Have you ever considered working as a Personal Assistant? Reliability, discretion, attention to detail and strong IT skills are key for the role of a PA [1] and Wendy recommends gaining a variety of experience - working within different sectors and organisations - to provide you with a strong foundation for employment. So everyone, give it up for Wendy!
